BLOGGING AWARDS

December 18th 2006 11:01
My memory fails me at the moment but I recall reading some comments here in Orbleland about the virtue of having blogging awards of somekind.

Well I googled "blogging awards" and received various hits. I saw two blogging awards websites that are looking for nominations now.

The first is an American based website - Interactive Media Awards. It allows entries from all over the world. Deadline is 31 December 2006.

Interactive Media Awards

The second is an Australian only bloggers award website - The Australian Blog Awards. Deadline is 7 January 2007 to nominate a blog and voting closes on 25 January 2007.

Collective Apathy - The Australian Blog Awards

I'm not quite sure of all the details ie awards, criteria, entry details, judging etc, but you can find all that information on the respective websites.

So nominate yourself, nominate somebody else, whatever tickles your fancy.

I looked at the American Interactive Media Awards - first of all they have a $125 entry fee. I also get the impression that they are looking for sites with unique designs as opposed to Orble blogs which all have the same basic design. If awards were to be handed out for Orble at this point, it would probably have to be through Orble.

I didn't look at the Australian site. I'm not Australian.

Hi Daily Sonnet,

Ooops. Didn't see the entry fee. I got as far as looking at the categories and I saw they had a blog category. But yes, I have seen some blogs that have a very nice design and layout. I was under the impression that individuals can redesign their own Orble page. Don't know.

Thanks for the comment.

Mrs. M.

Interesting Post and comments. Thanks for offering to nominate me [joke, everybody, joke, joke, joke] but I'm much too lazy to redesign my blog and I'm more interested in the big bucks [will consider the awards later].

The $125 is an inhibitor especially as I have only earned 10% of that for which I have not yet been paid and I am putting that towards a $15 haircut.

I have been known to cut my own before, but feel, now I am getting older, I should indulge myself and for $15 I don't have to play the nonsensical chit chat game.

Fortunately, I am still able to wash my hair, even very soon after some very complex surgeries.

Life is such fun, and they talk about risk taking, at my age it's getting very risky indeed.

Hope the little ones hairs have all been cut for Christmas, you must be doing very well financially.

Would you like me to nominate you for an award, you'd have to pay the entry fee, of course.

No, oh well, perhaps in 12 months time, I wonder how many of us will still be around by then, on Orble I mean.

katyzzz....Forgive the prattle, I'm getting into the spirit of things.

Hi katyzzz,

You're one funny lady. The $125 entry fee is for the American website. The second link is for Australian blogs only and so far I can't find any entry fee.

There are various categories including New blog, eg Best NSW blog, best humurous blog, best political blog etc.

From what I understand someone nominates the blog and then the general public vote for their favourite.

I saw something about this the other morning on 'Sunrise', where they had the winners of some blogging awards, but this must be a different set if the nominations etc are still open.
Funnily enough it never occurred to me that you could win a blogging award. Who would have thought?

I'm inspired...

I've done some nominating on the Aussie one, and then I've opened some up myself. Don't tell me it's lame, i know it's lame haha.

Hi Melissa A,

From the hits I got there are quite a few blogging awards out there. I didn't have the time to go through them all. It was just an exercise to see what I would find. But it is good to know that awards are out there.

Hi Brenton,

Okay, I won't tell you it's lame

Hi Cibbuano,

Well from memory from the comments I think people were debating whether it would be worth having Orble Awards. Some were for it and some were against it. Myself, I don't think it is a particularly bad idea.

Thanks for visiting and all your comments.
