AND LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ALL OF YOU

Below is an article I found on the smh.com.au website. I don't know whether to laugh or shake my head in despair. There are so many things in this situation I'm not quite sure where to begin.
A four-year-old US boy grabbed a shotgun from a cupboard and shot his babysitter who had accidentally stepped on the boy's foot.
The babysitter, Nathan Beavers, 18, was taken to hospital with wounds to his arm and side after the attack in Jackson, Ohio, the Daily Mail said.
Another teen was also injured.
Beavers was looking after the four-year-old and a number of other children at a mobile home in Jackson, the newspaper said.
Witnesses told police the child became angry because Beavers accidentally stepped on his foot.
The child has not been charged.

I'm glad our son doesn't have a gun. Our suburb would be a ghost town.

Flashes of memories
Kids of today... or should I say parents of today... coz it`s the parents who have allowed the kids to be in the situation that they are in.
Kids have too many liberties these days, they have too many helplines and excuses to bail them out. These things were put in place to genuinely help kids who are being abused and who are in need but have, instead been taken over by 'woe-is-me'....
Give them a good hiding and send them to their room... if he is like this at the age of 4 imagine when he is 16 or 17??
ggggrrrrrrrr!!!

WTF indeed.
Hi Cheryl,
It is mind boggling isn't it. Only in America indeed. Actually a friend of mine and I were discussing whether the 'only in America' comment is fair. Don't things like this happen in Europe for example but just aren't reported in the media. I find it difficult to believe that crazy stuff happens only in America. Surely.
Hi Ruby,
I surprised the kid didn't himself in the foot. Aren't shotguns heavy? But I agree, the fact that he knows how to shoot one cannot in any way be a good thing. Evidently.
Hi Janet,
You're absolutely right about anger. And the fact that revenge is seen as a right is a little alarming. Accidents don't happen anymore? He stepped on his foot. It says alot about the environment this kid is growing up in.
Hi Damo,
Well someone has to be target practice.
I wonder if the kid knows how to make a molotov cocktail?
Hi Kleo,
I'd love to know what the 4 year old is making of all of this. I'd love to know if he was freaked out by the sound of the gun going off, the blood all over the floor.
Hi Ash,
If a kid thinks it's alright to shoot someone he must have seen happen before. And that's frightening. But you're absolutely right about the parents.
Wonder if the kid will be taken away from the parents and put in foster care because the parents leave loaded weapons around the house.
Foster care is going to freak a 4 year old out.
I'd imagine there would be some serious fall out from this situation. Will the cycle ever end?
Love & stuff

Fictional Worlds
All I can imagine is the kid flying into the nearest wall from the power of the shot.
It's a horrible thing but a somewhat amusing picture.
Only in America... any one of the Americas. North, south, middle. We're all bad.
