I LOVE MY CHILDREN
March 14th 2007 01:33
I love the way my 16 month old son tries to talk to me.
I love the way my 3 year old son tries to show how strong his muscles are.
I love the way my 6 year old daughter mimics me when she is trying to help her brothers.
I love how all three can play together, laugh together, get upset with each other and then resolve it together.
I love how they get excited when they see either Mr M or me walk through the front door.
I love how they snuggle up to me when we are reading a book.
I love how they all jump on Mr M – at the same time.
I love that they thank me (or Mr M) for making dinner “it’s noice”.
I love that they draw, paint and create with wild abandon.
I love them for simply being them.

Just the good bits I hope.
Hi Kleonaptra,
I wrote this with you in mind. You commented a couple of times that kids aren't for you and I could see that at times I was leaning towards all the difficulties that come with parenting so today I thought I would write something simple, true and from the heart - with no logical thought attached.

Fun Facts
Hearing yourself come out of their mouths as it were can have some hilarious consequences.
But it's the kisses, cuddles and smiles from them that make it all worth it! : )

Too many times I have cringed when I hear my daughter mimicking me. Do I really sound like that? Why didn't anybody tell me?

It's lovely to write these things about your kids down. When I posted a similar piece to this a few months back (see here) I printed it out so I could read it to my daughter every now and then. I think too, it will be a nice thing to reflect on in the future!

I remember reading that post when you first wrote it.
Just a reminder about why we embarked on this journey called parenthood

I honestly feel I am too cold minded for kids - Love to me is pheremones, I want to be solitary, yet I am drawn to my man throught his scent, I believe love is nothing more than chromosomes speaking to each other through scent messages - "perfect genetic match!" Children are nothing more than this experiment in genetics.
I love Mr M saying he can see you in all of them, thats what he loves most. In the three foals my broodmare has had I have been aiming for a female to breed her blood through the next generation. Unfortunately all Ive gotten is boys, which has serviced my genetic experiment( heterozygous and homozygous chromosomes influencing conformational characteristics) the purpose I have is to revolutionize the horse breeding world by showing people how to control their breeding program - get what you want every time. A female would have given me more information, as males with inferior genetics have to be gelded, (as her first two did) but the last shall remain a stallion and he may service the experiment better than a female could, and I will have Teshans grand-daughters, even though I would love a first blood daughter.
My point is - I love Teshan, and I loved the sire of the first two boys, and it is amazing how different characteristics appear that I did not think could be genetic. Facial expressions. Small mannerisims. These things I had contributed to environment are actually genetic and has broadened my topic considerably. I love seeing their parents in them - The first boy is all the worst from both, the second is all the best(thats Magnus, the show horse) the little colt Zayfir is not all the best or all the worst(different sire to the others too) - perfect for my chromosome experiment, which gives me a good excuse to keep him and love him! I feel in him I have my perfect match for a horse.
Sorry...Got a bit carried away on my favourite topic there!

I commend you for being honest enough and confident enough to say that children aren't for you. And you don't apologise for it. You don't even seem to the kind of person that doesn't want children because it will "cramp your style". You sound like you have given this a lot of thought.
Yes, we are in a bit of a population slump - society is going to the dogs re having children. But better to be in a population slump than have a mum who doing a job she really wasn't cut out for and have the child pay the price.
But reading about your horses you sound just like a parent to me. Selfless.

I love how all the things that we take for granted ie walking, jumping, skipping, catching etc they have such enthusiasm for perfecting that skill.
And how they see the world is amazing.

Thankyou. Thankyou so much! My friends who have kids dont really see the connection - but I DO see myself as a parent to my animals, I call myself 'mum' and my man 'dad' and my mum is 'nanna' to all of them. I work hard and pay out just as much as if I DID have kids! Its only very recently, seeing my friends with kids, that I have truly appreciated the freedom of closing the barn door or birdcage then walking away to have a few drinks and forget about it until the next morning.
I never thought babies were 'cute' I never went gaga like some girls over kids or wanted one when I was a teenager. When I was younger it was very much the aspect of wanting my life to be my own, and Ive always thought, what damage would I do to my children if I didnt really want them? The friend with the agressive 2 yr old once asked me why I didnt want kids - after detailing how many times in a night I had to get up to feed the baby birds she understood I had a taste of it!
I do not believe we are in a population slump. There are only about 50 000 grey whales at the moment - how does that compare to 6 billion humans? I believe the world is sadly overpopulated and its only getting worse. I do not feel the need to over stress the already over populated earth with more people.
My man wants at least one child - the self preservation problem. I told him until he can play comfortably with our friends children, instead of viewing them from afar like a foriegn species, it aint gonna happen!
And finally, I was very young once, walking home from the shops because I couldnt afford the bus on a 40degree day, when I promised myself - I will not think about children until I can afford to give them everything I did not have. Perhaps, in the future, I might find myself more open to the idea, but I thankyou so much for understanding my point of view - no one with kids ever has!
My friend with twins once had me say to her - I just dont get it. How do you MAKE a person? I see my animals give birth and it all makes sense to me, but humans? I dont understand. She said "Your not ready" I think thats obvious!
Thankyou Mrs M. I cant tell you how much I appreciate your comments.
