MY SMALL ITALIAN SHOTGUN WEDDING

December 10th 2006 21:21
No this isn't a biography of my life. It's a short film my husband and I made a couple of years back. It was shortlisted in Tropfest and was a finalist in the Sour Grapes film festival - but didn't win anything - is there a Sour Grapes Again film festival?

It runs for 4 minutes.

Just click below and enjoy!! Let me know what you think!!

Hi LAD,

Glad you liked it. Alot of the dialogue was improvised, so the actors did really well.

Hi Lily,

The lead actor (Jimbo) improvised that line. The crew almost burst at the seams trying to contain their laughter while filming was going on.

I've been working on another for about 4 years now. I'm stuck at the writing stage. Bloody writers block.

Thanks for visiting and your comments.

Hi katyzzz,

Only a short break. I'm about to race out the door to go to my sons preschool and finish that short film.

Sometimes I think I wear too many hats.

Hi Lily,

Thanks for the link. I'll take whatever help I can get.

Thanks again.

Mrs M,

Love it! The looking for my car keys line was inspired.

I hope your writers block clears up and you can finish the next one. I look forward to seeing it.

Thanks KylieW. I think Jimbo (the groom) really makes this film. I think if not for him, it probably wouldn't be as funny. He just looks so goofy. And half the lines, he improvised.

I agree, writer's block be gone. I'd like to see the next one too

So you posted to YouTube? How's that going?

Hi pegasus,

It's been up for about a month but just in the last 2 days since I posted it here it has picked up an extra 30 or so views.

It's going okay I suppose. A couple of people have it as their favourite which is a trip.

Nice to know that there is still some life left in it.

I am of Italian heritage and I love it ! Fantastic film. It's not quite how my family works, but its very well done. I'd love to make my own film and see how it goes. very inspirational.

Top work, Mrs M !!

Thanks Anthony. My husband is of Italian descent otherwise I'd have no idea what the father or mother were saying.

I'm of Greek descent and at the time "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was big so everyone looked towards me to validate the authenticity of the movie. Drove me nuts. So I decided to make the antithesis (but still stereotypical) to that.

I mean, we all know italians like to shoot people...right. I know my father-in-law had a shooters licence.

But go forth and create Anthony, I'd love to see what you come up with.

If and when I ever get my sound back I'll let you know, but going by everyone else's comments it looks pretty good.

Thanks MelissaA. Yes sound is integral in this

But an idea I'm bouncing around for my next short film is that it's silent.

How funny.

Mrs M...

2nd helpings are always good. This time, i noticed Jimbo untangling his arm for the bride and groom toast lol...

good luck on the 'silent' movie .. sounds hard...
but hey, charlie chaplin did it...

writer's block, be gone

stuff and love,

Mrs M, guaranteed if you put a silent one here for all of us to see, I'll have my sound up and running again. ; )

Hi Lily,

2nd, 3rd and 4th helpings are always good. For me though the critic comes out and I notice things I wish I could do differently. The "toast" is my one of my favourite parts. Along with the baby of course.

Hi MelissaA,

It's always the way. Bloody Murphy.

I've been nosing around a certain little green aliens blog waiting for him to upload this, didn't know it was here already

haha, I saw the ending a mile away.

Where'd you get the huge cast?

Comment by Mrs M

July 4th 2007 13:56
The huge cast is actually a bunch of Armenians...someone called someone who called someone else and there you have it.

yoda does have this on his blog.

As for the ending...clever you!
