THE PERFECT DAY
June 7th 2007 04:28
It’s raining outside and I mean really raining; my grass loves it.
I kept my daughter home from school today. I remember when I was a wee little thing my mother would occasionally keep me home from school on rainy days and I loved it. And I loved her for it.
So here we all are in the middle of the day still in our pyjamas feasting on chocolate chip cookies. Watching the rain come down outside and wind sweeping through the trees just makes it feel oh so toasty warm in here.
It really does feel like the world has stopped…at least it has for us today. We don’t need to be anywhere, nothing needs to be cleaned and the biggest decision I have to make is what manner of take away we are having for dinner.
These are the days I dreamed about when I started having a family.
I really feel like I’m having a day off from the responsibility of being a parent. Choc chip cookies for lunch...who cares; take away full of fat for dinner…yummy; just doing nothing together…priceless.

Sounds priceless, especially with just you and the kids...I'm relaxing just reading about it.
I'm notorious for doing this, to the point of being frowned upon by other Mum's at various stages throughout Primary and later, High school.
Pah! I say... wake up and learn what a good investment, really means.
Good on you my dear, you will never regret these days, when the little arms encircle you and you get a big slobby kiss, and an "I love you Mum."..later on ...
much warmth

Hi Lilla,

Pizza got my vote but I was outvoted by the kiddies...KFC was the winner...maybe I'll just order a pizza now that they are asleep

For me a day like that would involve reading, hot chocolate (the proper made on the stove kind, not the microwave stuff), some writing and chatting with my Nata.

Hot chocolate made on the stove absolutely...never too old to have hot chocolate.
It was nice to just chat with the kids about stuff....really nice. Especially because it wasn't mixed with 'have you done your chores yet?'
Thanks for the visit and the comment.

My second favourite days is when I had my cats and they would snuggle up to me when it was cold outside.
I miss those days.
