They have sucked my will to write

December 1st 2006 03:48
For those of you who read my previous post "They say you should NEVER work with children or animals" maybe you will understand and can forgive today's brief post.

I did decide to "try try again" with the preschoolers and the short film. But when I arrived today, the set had fallen apart. That's it - production halted. And what's worse, the painter's did it. Come on!

After a long hard think last night I realised that this short film would be fun - for the kids. And that's what mattered. At the end of the day, no matter how many mishaps, hissy fits, and line stuff ups there were, these kids would love the end product. Seeing themselves and their friends on the small screen.

So I will not give up, I will not give in but at the moment I'm buggered. I can't even write properly.

Hats off to the childcare workers, carers and teachers for going back day after day. Love your work.

And as for me, I am now going to go and have a Bex and a lie down.

Yes - they suck my will to write at times too. In fact, I took a two week break from Orble, returning today.

Hats off to childcare workers indeed! I get two blessed days a week off from Number One Son (nearly 4) when he goes to day care but no time off from Mr Goo (5 months).

Buggered - I'm with you.
(and I haven't heard "Bex and a good lie down for years. You made me giggle!)

I'm with the both of you - they certainly can suck my will to write!
If I'm lucky enough to get a bit of time without anyone else in the house, I will try to set up a whole bunch of blogs to post automatically for about a week or so. But that can be very hard to do also - both in getting that time, and being able to actually get that many done.

I hope you have a nice lie down, and rest easy now that the weekend's here!

I have written volumes about what the 'They' family say. They are a family of tossers, hooked up with other tossers.

They say this.

They say that.

They change their mind every day.

One day, 'They' say butter is bad for you. The next day 'They' say margarine is bad for you and you should switch back to butter.

'They' say don't discuss religion or politics. Well what the fuck else are we going to discuss, when life is all about religion and politics, you family of tossers?

'They' say don't work with children or animals. The 'They' family are a family of paedophiles and buggers. 'They' don't want you to cut their lunch.

Plough on, and forget the 'They' family.

Children and animals are a lot more interesting than the 'They' family.

The 'They' family were bought out by media moguls who would like us all to think that the 'They' family are important, whereas the media moguls are just using the 'They' family to further their own purposes ... The 'They' family now have a multi-million-dollar sponsorship deal. Yet the 'They' family don't exist. Only in the minds of the media, and the minds of those gullible enough to belive what the media says ... in the name of the 'Theys' ...

'They' say blogging is stupid. Of course 'They' are going to say that. It threatens them ...

Someone who is not related to the 'Theys' might say, working with animals and children is good fun.

For what it is worth 'I' say work with animals and children ... it's much more fun than the 'Theys' realise ..

The media are tossers ... They are a bunch of tossers ... Tossers ... That's what 'I' say ...

I sponsor myself ... by the way ...

I wonder what They would say about that?

Hi Little Angry Doll,

Welcome back to Orble and thanks for your comments. Mr Goo - that's so cute. Glad you found the Bex comment amusing. I was wondering if that was going to be lost on everyone.

Hi Melissa A,

I tried to do that write a whole bunch of posts and set them to go off everyday day but it didn't work for me. And yes, sometimes it is easier to get 30 minutes to write 1 post than 3 hours to write 5 - with so many things to juggle I may as well have circus music as the soundtrack to my life.

Thanks for visiting.

Hi David My David,

WOOHOO!! Now there's a response. I have to come over to your blog and read some of your stuff.

Thanks for visiting.

Hi Mrs M

I'm in a constant state of buggeredness. I honestly don't know where children get all their energy from. Sometimes writing just has to take a running jump.

I too will second your praise of the people who work with children. Dealing with my own is enough for me, I don;t think I could cope with other people's too.

Time to write? ... What's that?

Hi Andrea,

Do you think you write better when you are under time pressure?

I give myself 45 minutes at lunch to write my post. The baby is asleep, my 3 year settles down to have his lunch and watch a video and that's my window of opportunity.

Sometimes I think when I give myself 3 hours of an evening to write it just turns out to be crap. And those times when I write during the day, post, and think to myself "I didn't even get a chance to edit it" my post will get some good comments and votes. Bizarre.

Hi again Mrs M

Sometimes my writing flows beautifully when time is at a premium. Generally I just write my post, read it through once then upload it. That's it. I try not to fuss around with it too much otherwise I think it'll end up too ... fussy?

Because I have a number of writing projects on the boil (so to speak) at any one time, my blog included, at times of 'writing opportunity' I pick the project I feel like doing at the time. If I force myself to write about a particular thing, something I'm not in the mood to write about, then I think my writing comes out forced and just isn't as good.

Does that make sense?

Sometimes, mine just come out crap too!!!

Hi Mrs M,

Oooh, I could just picture you there trying to film it all. Could be the sequel to Kindergarten Cop! I can't wait to hear how it all goes.

I've done plenty of childcare and teaching over the years and the word exhausting is an understatement.
I took dance classes for after school care kids once. Let's just say that ny idea of a structured ballet class turned into a creative movement class instead!

Hi Candice,

Structure? What's that? I've realised that I have to be creative in the editing room to make the story coherent. But that's okay. It's all a learning curve and the lesson I've learnt is - expect nothing and expect everything.

We are perservering and will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks for visiting.
