MRS M's TO DO LIST

June 23rd 2008 03:07
Last week Charles emailed me asking if I was okay. I haven’t posted for a while and Charles was wondering if there was there anything he could do to help.

Well, not really. But I am grateful for his concern. I just need to be more organized. I did make a commitment to regularly post on Orble so here I am. Back on deck….I hope.

So being the multitasking, time management whiz that I am, I have outlined my to do list below so not only do I fulfil my commitment to post on Orble but hopefully help me get back on track.

1. Post 3 times a week on Orble
2. Read Orble posts
3. Have ONE master to do list
4. Clear the pile of papers precariously perched next to my laptop…bloody tax man
5. Revise house budget
6. Do something fun with the kids at least once a day….and Mr M
7. Drink more water everyday
8. Eat more fruit and veg everyday
9. Stretch for at least 10 mins a day…kids too
10. Sleep for 8 hours a day
11. Clear and file my emails
12. Read newspaper
13. Finish Bruce Springsteen biography
14. Transcribe interviews from dictaphone
15. Collate secondary research to be verified by expert
16. Research next 4, 5, 6 articles
17. Scan and add recent published articles to portfolio
18. Go through and revise insurance needs
19. Rearrange bedrooms
20. Put books on ebay to sell
21. Work out how to deal with lying
22. Update contact address book on Outlook
23. Finish writing short film
24. Sort to do list into categories – work, me, home, family
25. The usual daily chores – dishwasher, laundry, dinner, groceries, homework - blah
26. Clean house – double blah
27. Set up working files for articles
28. Buy new desk with filing draw – so I can file my working files
29. Take high chair to Diane’s
30. Scratch my bum
31. Research mobile phone plans
32. Stop thinking about the brown pants I want to buy
33. Watch a documentary or something meaningful on tv
34. Take more chances
35. Create more opportunities…see no. 32
36. Visit my mother
37. Work out menu for this weekend’s barbecue
38. Write things down as I remember them so I can add to ‘said’ list.
39. Stop now before I hit 40 things to do!

That's almost more than there are hours in the working week. Who says running a household ain't a job!?

Oh - and just buy the brown pants already.

Well Mrs M, I don't know how you will manage #10 and #30 when you have the other thirty seven to take care of!

But good luck! Would be lovely to see you around the place more.

Michaelie, Tracy,

So good to see you lovely ladies

It's a long list, but feel better for having written it. Even though sleeping for 8 hours might be a bit ambitious

Thanks for the visit ladies.

Hi Mrs M, I'm a new subscriber to your blog.

Now, if we change # 13 from Bruce Springsteen's biography to Middlesex and if we scrap # 20 and #29 and if we change #31 to 'buy credit for mobile phone', and if we just alter the 'brown pants' in # 32 to ' Dragonfly Dress'....then this is my EXACT 'to do' list.

Now all I have to do is print it out...whoops, that makes #40!

So glad I stopped by.

Good to see you back. I am in awe of you if you get 8 hours sleep and manage to carry out the other 38 tasks.

Great to see you again Mrs M

The Orble halls have missed your motherly presence. Good luck with that list - I think I need to get me some kids so that I can become more efficient! I don`t have any and struggle to get through my mental lists in a day, which are not even a quarter of what you have up there.

I may have to take your mention of those brown pants as a sign that i should buy the blue ones I`ve been checking out!

Cheers - here`s to lists... and fulfilling them

*Belly Laughs* Great BIG Belly Laughs of empathy.... hahahahahaha.... *scratching bum*

It was Number 3 that got me. *LOL* Now when you have worked out how it's done, promise me you'll add NO: 40 and post a post on orble about how you did it... please?

hahahahahaha, just love this post Mrs M... right there with you, add a computer virus to the mix over the past month and no internet or phones at all, because the telstra boys won't talk to the other ISP providers; all requiring another timely visit to the Local Federal Members office to complain, and you have something that would make the Godfather look like something on the Funniest Home Video's around here too ....

hahahhaha *wistfully vague* (like Homer Sumpson) : No : 32 ...beautiful slate grey cardigan. I hope you manage to get to the brown pants... but not to quickly, nothing like a bit of delayed gratification *nudge, wink*

Thanks for the wonderful laugh this cool and frosty morning... wonderful to have you back.

Lilla ...

Hi Ahmed,

Well you're easy pleased aren't you?

Hi MNG,

I often wonder if list makers are just procrastinators in disguise.

Hi Jayne,

So nice to 'meet' you.

I find I can't concentrate because of those damn brown pants.

And as for Springsteen's biography, I've been reading it for about 2 years because it is so badly written but it I really Springsteen so I persevere. Though I generally end up picking another book and reading it.

Hi Sara,

Well the only way I could get close to 8 hours sleep was to threaten my children with their freedom if they dared come into my bedrooom before 7am unless someone was dying. Doesn't always work though.

Hi Ash,

How are those blue pants lookin?

I'm not quite I'm as efficient as I should be but I do surprise myself sometimes. I have a friend who one day wrote down everything she did just so she could show her husband that she doesn't laze around all day. And there were so many things that she just took care of that he hadn't even considered.

But we're all busy. I don't ever remember a time when I wasn't busy. We're our own worst enemies sometimes.

Hi Kylie,

A good woman's work really is NEVER done.
Ain't that the truth.

Hi Tracy,

In honour of your post and list, I just bought myself a jacket I've had my eye on for a while now
And they say consumer confidence is down

Hi Lilla,

I'm glad I made you laugh.

Avoid Telstra at all cost. I can absolutely guarantee that they are the source of all your grief. I blame them for everything.

I haven't bought those pants yet.....yet!! I was reading an article that said that if you had to choose between going on a holiday or buying a new car, you should choose the experience over the material thing. Experiences gives you more satisfaction than material possessions

Slate grey cardigan....brown pants.....

yoda,

home theatre pc....

Thanks everyone for the visit. Glad to be back.

Hey Lovely,
I used to be a chronic list maker, now I dont have time. I lurch unsteadily from job to job until I collapse. I NEVER get 8 hours sleep....Except some sundays when I just crash out for 12 or more and will not be woken.

*yawn*

Hi Kleo

I hope things settle down soon. I'd like to think that I'm a 'go with the flow' kind of gal but it's not just kids that need routine, otherwise my life feels like it is spiraling out of control.

Hi Tracy,

I've just watched Cat in the Hat with my youngest and Dakota Fanning's character is making a list. No. 4 is to be spontaneous and No. 10 was to make tomorrow's to do list.

Thanks for the visit ladies.

Mrs. Mum! And Yoda! Ah, it's so good to read you again!

My visits here are so scattered lately..very strange coincidence, your visiting me today. Check back soon.

(In John Cleese voice): Remember to scratch your bum after you eat your fruit and veggies, before you watch the documentary, but not while wearing your new brown pants--unless you're scratching in a place that will produce a similar or matching color.

Eeyew, I just grossed myself out with my own humor.

Yep, definitely went too far with that comment

Though it is something that Cleese probably would have said himself.

D, good to see you around. I've been a bit scattered as well

Gawd Mrs. M., I have been in such a strange mood lately! I'm half afraid to post, for fear of offending someone ; D

ok well YOU were on my "to do" list!

take D. Armenta's advice and read some Mrs M blog

CHECK!

i confess i (wrongly) presumed a mums blog may be a bit boring but you really have pizazz!

i like how you casually dropped in "23. Finish writing short film" amongst all the smaller tasks haha

now i really want to write a list! i can see you are a good influence already!

Charles sent me an email once because i was neglecting my Business News blog, and i felt like a naughty kid who didnt do my homework, so i wrote back a lengthy excuse haha . . . he probably thought i was being odd for taking an automated email so seriously HAHA

Hi Morgan,

Thanks for the visit and the compliment.

The first time I received an email from Charles I did the same thing and reply until my husband pointed out that it might well be a fruitless exercise.

No. 23 has been around for a while which is why it was dropped in casually.

Friend I glazed over reading your list. My sympathies to you friend. How did we get such lives where so much has to be done simultaneously? I know that we I was a stay at home mom, I was amazed at the amount of tasks that have to be accomplished for a family. It has been a month since this was originally posted so how does it go with the list? I am wishing you all the best! Hug Yoda and the kids for me!

Hi Mis,

It is a ridiculously long list I agree. Some things are just recurring items so will never be scratched off.

But I have accomplished the following numbers:-

2,
3.
4. Half done
5.
6.
7.
10.
11. Half done
19.
22.
29.
31.
32. Brown pants didn't look as good on as they did on the hanger.
33.
37.

So that's a few things off. I feel better already. Thanks Mis.

Love & stuff
